I'm Elle, a painter based in Yorkshire. I'm drawn to the character of the landscapes of North England.

My work is rooted in direct observation - long runs, quick iPhone snaps, sketchbooks and attention to the way light moves and shifts during the day.

My paintings encompass landscapes, nature, botanicals and wildlife, each rooted in close observation of the natural world. Each painting begins as a response to a real place and moment, worked up in the studio into something that tried to hold a little of that feeling.
